The Trump administration has submitted an emergency request to Congress to fund the construction of new federal prisons, citing what officials are calling “an unexpected and highly specific overcrowding issue.” According to the proposal, existing prison facilities are reaching capacity due to the steady influx of Trump-aligned officials, advisors, and supporters currently serving time or awaiting sentencing.
“We’re not saying anyone did anything wrong,” said a senior spokesperson for the administration, “but let’s just say the janitor closet at Mar-a-Lago is currently doubling as a holding cell.” The proposed bill, titled the Patriot Accountability Infrastructure Network (PAIN) Act, seeks to establish five new correctional campuses with amenities like gold-plated cell bars and Fox News livestreams.
A confidential report attached to the proposal outlines a projected 300% increase in “ideologically adjacent incarcerations,” driven by charges ranging from obstruction of justice to “failing to delete emails fast enough.” The administration has described the phenomenon as a “logistical inconvenience,” not a legal crisis.
Critics argue the move is less about infrastructure and more about preparing for future fallout. “It’s basically building gated communities for the indicted,” said one law professor. “But instead of golf carts, they’re getting ankle monitors and a shared legal team.”
To expedite the plan, officials are floating the idea of turning Trump hotel properties into “pre-prison facilities” to ease the transition. One prototype includes padded cells with MAGA decor, a steakhouse commissary, and supervised tweet privileges.
At press time, the administration was also reportedly in talks to create a loyalty-based sentencing scale, where higher levels of devotion to Trump result in reduced time and priority booking at the new “Club Fed Liberty Suites.”
