In the latest twist of geopolitical cosplay, TikTok influencers across the platform are taking a stand for Israel and Iran causes the only way they know how: with moderately on-beat choreography and confusing hashtags.
The campaign, titled #SwayForSovereignty, features a lineup of 7 original dances “inspired by the cultural vibes” of Iran and Israel — all choreographed by a 17-year-old from Kansas who once had churros at Epcot.
“It’s about awareness,” said @Lexi4GlobalPeace, as she transitioned from a belly roll into a vaguely sombrero-shaped hat tip. “I may not get the politics, but I totally feel the energy.”
Critics say the trend flattens centuries of history, economic disparity, and human rights complexity into 15-second thirst traps filmed in LED lighting. But creators aren’t fazed.
“Sometimes diplomacy is just vibes,” shrugged @GlobalBaddie_12, as she twerked to a mashup of reggaetón and generic Arabic flute music. “Besides, if I get enough likes, I might qualify for peace ambassador.”
At press time, neither government had commented on the movement — although sources confirm at least one prince reposted a video with the caption “🔥🔥🔥”.
