Yale University stunned the academic world this week by announcing that Grammy-winning rapper and noted political commentator Cardi B has joined the faculty as a visiting professor in political science and economics. The Ivy League institution said the decision reflects “a bold new direction in experiential education” and “a sincere desire to make macroeconomics go viral.”
“We wanted to bring in someone who understands both the streets and the Senate,” said Dean Meredith Langford. “Cardi B’s resume includes chart-topping albums, viral Instagram rants about tax policy, and an intimate understanding of how capitalism hits different when your Wi-Fi bill is late.”
Cardi’s course lineup includes Intro to WAP (Wealth Accumulation Policy), The Federal Reserve: Okurrrr or Nah?, and Political Theory from Machiavelli to Megan Thee Stallion. Sources say the syllabi include required readings, classroom debates, and the occasional twerk break to keep morale high.
“I been talkin’ about politics,” Cardi told reporters while adjusting a Yale hoodie with rhinestone lettering. “These dusty politicians be lying to us, and I’mma teach these students how to clap back with citations.” She added that office hours would be held “wherever the vibes are right.”
While some critics questioned the academic rigor of the hire, Yale defended its decision. “She’s already educated millions more about inflation and stimulus checks than most cable news anchors,” said one faculty member. “And let’s be honest — most economists can’t even keep up with her rhythm, let alone her cultural impact.”
At press time, Cardi was seen wheeling a whiteboard through campus shouting “This is how recessions start, baby!” as dozens of students sprinted to enroll before the waitlist hit capacity. Rumors are swirling that her next course will be cross-listed with Yale’s music department and titled Monetary Policy: Beats, Bars, and Bailouts.
