Last Sunday, Supreme Court Nominee Amy Coney Barret was seen leaving her church wearing a red cloak and white bonnet, posing a striking resemblance to the outfits worn in the Hulu series “The Handmaid’s Tale”. In an effort to get ahead of the rumor mill, she released a statement.
“I know that many on the left would love to spin this as me being part of some hyper-puritan sect of Christianity that doesn’t believe in women’s rights. However that is just not true. I was dressed as ‘Red Riding Hood’ for our church’s Halloween party. The outfit I was wearing was in no way a requirement for all women in our church. In fact, if the church would allow me to drive, I would have loved to show you in person how innocent the costume was.”
